Introducing a one-of-a-kind bottle for a one-of-a-kind planet™

After drinking from plastics, metals and materials that are far from perfect, an idea sparked. How can we invent a bottle made out of bamboo? Well, as time went on, we concluded that in order to drink from bamboo, it was going to have to be lined. Having several concerns with lining the bamboo, we erased the white board and asked a simple question. What is the best substance to drink from? The answer is simple, glass.

Glass is pure- it guarantees a clean taste, it’s fresh. Back to the whiteboard, we asked another question, how can we protect this glass, so it is durable and able to withstand an active lifestyle? Again, the answer was simple, bamboo.

Now, the big question, how can this be built? After much research and development we concluded that a plastic top, bottom, and nut was the only feasible solution. Although we tried really hard to refrain from using plastic, the plastic that we chose is 100% BPA-free and recyclable with curbside recycling programs should you ever want to recycle your Bamboo Bottle.

After setting out on the mission to introduce a one-of-a-kind bottle for a one-of-a-kind planet, it is understood that the Bamboo Bottle Company is not perfect, however, everyday we are striving to get better, to become more green, and to build a bottle that’s not only better for you, but for Mother Earth. It is our mission.

We love our fans, our customers and our followers. As the Bamboo Bottle Company grows, we would love to hear from you. Any suggestions that you have on how we can become greener, more responsible, or improve, let us know! After all, we strive everyday to make a better bottle for you, so we think it’s necessary for you to tell us what you think!

Cheers!

Bamboo Bottle Company: For Sustainability, Just Add Water

Stay hydrated with the first easy-to-clean, bamboo and glass constructed, BPA-free water bottle.

Bamboo Bottle Company, maker of the original bamboo reusable bottle, is proud to announce its launch August 2 at the 2010 Outdoor Retailer Summer Marketplace. The 17 oz “Original” bamboo bottle is BPA-free and features environmentally friendly bamboo and glass construction with a stylish and functional design.

“The Bamboo Bottle Company began as conversation amongst friends who all have a long history in the outdoor and sports industry,” states Senior Vice President Patrick Carland. “We looked at the marketplace and saw an opportunity for a clean, great looking bamboo bottle with minimal environmental impact.”

Created by outdoor industry veterans, Bamboo Bottle Company was born after a slew of Las Vegas brainstorms, a few drawings on cocktail napkins, meticulous research and lots of late nights. One reoccurring theme became obvious to the crew during every meeting: go bamboo.  Bamboo is sleek, durable, stylish and best of all, renewable.

“We wanted to make a clean, great looking bottle you could drink hot or cold beverages from,” says Carland. “Clean to us meant the liquid had to taste great when drinking from the bottle and the product had to respect the environment as much as possible. Bamboo and glass allow us to accomplish that goal. We hope to minimize our impact on the environment and increase reusable bottle awareness with the Bamboo Bottle Company.”

The Bamboo Outer
Because of the species’ stability, hardness and strength, our bottles are made from Phyllostachys Pubescens bamboo (also known as Moso and Mau Tzu).  The bamboo is grown and harvested in temperate conditions that allow it to grow to its maximum potential – 90 feet in 9 months!  The best part of the harvesting method is the hand selection and hand cutting of the bamboo.  This allows maturing and flowering strands to remain flourishing and minimizes the impact on ground soil since no heavy machinery is used.  Once cut, the bamboo will continue to grow just like mowing your lawn.  This selective cutting process leaves the soil and land in its best possible state.
The bamboo outer acts as a natural insulator for hot or cold beverages while protecting the glass interior during activities and accidental drops.

The Glass Inner
After testing hundreds of prototypes, Bamboo Bottle Company developed a first-of-its-kind design—an easily removable, dishwasher-safe, 60 percent recycled, durable glass interior, produced from completely natural substances and able to withstand active lifestyles.

Unlike plastics and metals that can leach chemicals, the Bamboo Bottle Company’s BPA-free glass interior keeps liquids safe, clean tasting and insulated—hot or cold. The stylish, patent pending design allows for easy cleanup. Simply unscrew the top and bottom and slide the dishwasher-safe glass lining out.

Capping It Together
The cap, bottom and nut are dishwasher-safe, FDA food grade approved, and made from BPA-free plastic that can be easily recycled and turned into other products. Both the Type II (HDPE) and Type IV (LDPE) can be turned into your local recycling center.
